FKA Twigs was born on January 17, 1988 as Tahliah Debrett Barnett. She grew up in Cheltenham, Gloucestershire, United Kingdom with her Jamaican father and English mother (part Spanish). She always fell in love and influenced by dance and music in all shapes and forms. Her inspiration came from Marvin Gaye, Billie Holiday, and Ella Fitzgerald. It was when she recorded her first record, EP1, with Mike Chapman (her producer) that she started to get noticed. In late 2013, she soon released EP2 which was nominated for BBC's Sound of 2014 Contest. She loss to Sam Smith but it was the beginning of a spectacular journey in her career.
